The book contains discussions of “Hawking, Hunting and Cote Armour.” The two pages set out here (in the original’s Middle English) (For larger image please click below) are from the section on hawking, and they are frequently described as laws governing what type of hunting . Several, more specific terms are used by purists. For example, the term hawking is used when a hawk or an eagle is used for the hunting, or even the broader term austringer is used for one who hunts with hawks, eagles, or even owls. The term falconry, some believe, should be used strictly for hunting .
